http://www.nycreligion.info/today-brooklynqueens-anniversary-day/
No school for public schools today for Brooklyn Queens day.
How about visiting one of your favorite spots in Brooklyn or Queens, depending on what borough you live in? Since I hail from Brooklyn, here is something for students who have no school on June 9th.:

Summer Reading begins Thursday, June 9!

Calling all Brooklyn Summer Readers!
Summer is a great time to read what you like, to learn new things, and have fun with friends. Find free programs and events for all ages throughout the summer on our events calendar. Declare yourself a Summer Reader at your library and online at www.summerreading.org.
Join the party!
Brooklyn's Summer Reading Kickoff is happening on Thursday, June 9th at Central Library from 10:00am to 3:30pm. Sign up the whole family for Summer Reading, and join us for a free family celebration with live music and fun games! All library branches will host Summer Reading signup events from 2 to 4 pm on Thursday, June 9.
Play the Summer Reading Games!
Everyone who finishes a Summer Reading Gameboard or Summer Challenge will be entered into a drawing for a set of books personally chosen for each winner.
